SOCALPAPA presents Plein Air Art Show and Sale at ENC

The Southern California Plein Air Painters Association (SOCALPAPA) and Environmental Nature Center (ENC) are presenting “SOCALPAPA The Art of Nature: Plein Air Art Show and Sale” on Saturday and Sunday, April 30 and May 1 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Visitors can view art, watch artists as they paint and enjoy the ENC grounds.

Original works of art from SOCALPAPA artists will showcase the scenic beauty and rich diversity of nature. Many pieces painted specifically at the ENC and at Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary will also be on exhibit and available for sale. Artwork will be displayed on ENC patios and at designated trail locations throughout the five-acre site.

Working “en plein air” (or outdoors) allows the artist to observe and capture the natural colors and light effects of the open landscape. Featured paintings are in oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastel. Guests will have a chance to win a framed original oil painting by an award-winning local artist. Art classes for children and adults will be conducted on both Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m.-12 p.m.

“Nature has always been an inspiration to artists, making the ENC the perfect place to showcase art featuring nature’s scenic beauty and rich diversity,” said ENC Executive Director Bo Glover. “We’re especially excited that pieces painted at the ENC and at our new location, the ENC Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary, will be on exhibit.”

Part of all art sales will be donated to the ENC, allowing a partial, charitable tax deduction. The ENC promotes natural and social science education to the community, fostering a greater appreciation of the natural world.

The ENC is located at 1601 E. 16th St., Newport Beach. More information on the show, visit www.encenter.org.
